In Phu Tan district, the delegation surveyed 3 locations: The joint venture of DNU Trading and Service Company Limited and Van Hung Tung One Member Company Limited; Truong Son Construction Corporation (Tan Trung commune); 36-CTCP Corporation (Phu An commune), Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company, Hai Dang Joint Stock Company, Truong Son Construction Corporation (Hoa Lac commune). In Chau Phu district, the delegation surveyed Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company, Truong Son Construction Corporation (Binh Long commune) and Truong Son Construction Corporation (Binh Thuy commune).
Next, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, along with the working delegation, traveled by watercraft to conduct a field survey at the mining area on Hau River (in Binh Thuy Commune, Chau Phu District and Binh Thanh Dong Commune, Tan Hoa Commune, Phu Tan District) exploited by Truong Son Construction Corporation and Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company.
After conducting a field survey and noting the difficulties and obstacles in the localities, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to review and resolutely handle violations regarding reserves, depth, etc. The Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee also commended the people in the areas where river sand mines are exploited for participating with local authorities in supervising the sand exploitation process of enterprises. For localities, it is necessary to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles during the inspection process, especially during the current rainy and flood season.
The province currently has 10 licensed sand mining areas. As of August 10, the total volume of sand received for the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project, section through An Giang province, was over 1.775 million m3. The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project, section through Can Tho City, was over 799 thousand m3 and the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project, section through Hau Giang province, was nearly 256 thousand m3. The total volume of sand exploited and received for investment projects and key works in the province was 123,525 m3.
According to the report on the results of monitoring and evaluating the current status of the shoreline and the map of the current status of the riverbed terrain at 10 sand mining areas, it was discovered that 8 areas where exploitation has exceeded the allowable depth. However, the current status of both sides of the riverbank in the mining areas is relatively stable, with some sections having slight erosion, and there has been no record of sand mining activities causing landslides on the riverbank in the mining areas./.
