Many prospects for cooperations between An Giang and India

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - On May 21st, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General and an official of the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City visited and worked in An Giang province and paid a courtesy visit to the Provincial People's Committee. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Strengthening the cooperations between India and An Giang province 

At the meeting, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General said that in recent years, the cooperative relations between Viet Nam and India has continuously been strengthened and developed. For An Giang, the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has visited and worked many times, hoping to have the specific cooperation programs with the province. In particular, support An Giang and Indian business delegations to participate in trade connection and cooperation activities basing on the  advantages of the two sides, especially in the fields of food and tourism; Training and educating high quality human resources in the fields of health, education, specialized training in archeology…

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee was delighted to welcome Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General and the delegation in order to visit and work in An Giang. In recent times, the cooperation between An Giang and India has achieved many positive results. Specifically, the cooperation between the Archaeological Survey of India and the Management Board of Oc Eo Cultural Relics. From this basis of cooperation, the Provincial People's Committee has coordinated with central relevant agencies, ministries and  branches to complete the dossier and submit to UNESCO for recognition of Oc Eo - Ba The Relic Area as a World Cultural Heritage.

With the advantage of being blessed by nature, An Giang has much potential to develop eco-tourism and spiritual tourism. At the Viet Nam - India Economic and Cultural Exchange Forum held in New Delhi (India), Sam Mountain Mausoleum was recognized by the Viet Nam Union of UNESCO Associations and the Indian Council for Global Trade and Technology as the "Typical spiritual tourism destination in Asia - Pacific". The province is coordinating to submit a dossier to UNESCO for recognition of the Lady Xu Festival of Sam Mountain as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. On this occasion, the People's Committee of An Giang province invited Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General to attend the Lady Xu Festival of Sam Mountain on May 29th, 2024 (April 22nd of the lunar calendar).

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee said that with the highway system being invested, An Giang will be conveniently connected to Ho Chi Minh City and the center of the Mekong Delta, creating favorable conditions for investors coming to the province. At the same time, An Giang has large raw material areas for rice, fruits, seafood, and medicinal herbs, meeting the needs of Indian businesses; It is proposed that Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General will introduce businesses with interest in investing, connecting and exploiting raw material fields, investing in restaurants, hotels of international standards and professional tourist areas.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee proposed Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General and the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to continue supporting the training of high-quality human resources for the province, including archaeological experts; Research and organize a large-scale Yoga festival in the province. On An Giang's side, a delegation will be organized to India to learn about and seize investment opportunities. Through the suggestions of Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian Consul General, the contents and potential for cooperation between An Giang and India are clearer. The Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant departments and branches to synthesize and propose specific cooperation programs aimed at long-term, sustainable and effective cooperation in the future./.
