22/08/2024 |

(AG Provincial E-Portal) - Jaggery is a renowned specialty that is associated with the Bay Nui region of An Giang province. For centuries, the local populace has employed jaggery to create distinctive products, including jaggery juice, jaggery sugar, and banh bo thot. Presently, numerous An Giang enterprises have encouraged the diversification of jaggery-based products and promoted their consumption in numerous markets in order to sustainably increase the value of this plant.

Palmania Palm Sugar Nectar

Ms. Chau Ngoc Diu, a Khmer native who was born and raised in the mountainous district of Tri Ton, has always been concerned about the traditional jaggery cooking profession of her people. The quality and delectability of the product are somewhat diminished as a result of the complexity of the natural method of cooking sugar. Unfortunately, few individuals continue to employ this method.

In 2017, Palmania Company was founded with the goal of revitalizing jaggery products. The traditional Khmer method of producing Palmania jaggery nectar products employs cheesy wood and completely forgoes the use of preservatives or detergents.

Workers must possess a comprehensive understanding of techniques, a high level of skill, and experience in the selection of cheesy wood, as well as a reasonable amount of honey cooking time, in order to produce jaggery nectar products. Additionally, they must endure more extreme conditions. Jaggery nectar is extracted entirely from the flower sap of the jaggery tree and boiled for an extended period of time, resulting in a delightful and mildly sweet flavor. In addition, Palmania Jaggery guarantees consumer health by adhering to strict food hygiene and safety standards and maintaining high quality during the production process.

Palmania also received numerous prestigious awards, including the 2-star Great Taste Award, the First Prize in the An Giang Province Startup Creative Idea Contest 2020, the Third Prize in the Startup Wheel Contest 2020, the Third Prize in the Mekong Delta Startup Contest 2020, and the Top 60 Techfest 2020.

Tran Gia's simmered jaggery

Tran Gia Regional Specialty Development Co., Ltd. was established in 2015 with the objective of assisting individuals in the cultivation of jaggery in order to augment their income and, in particular, to create products derived from jaggery to provide consumers with a more accurate representation of An Giang specialties. The company was founded out of a deep love for the homeland.

The company has consistently conducted research, and enhanced, and varied its products to satisfy consumer demands throughout the years of construction and development. The company has introduced a variety of jaggery-based products with varying applications, including jaggery sugar, jaggery-colored water, jaggery wine, and simmered jaggery.

Jaggery is one of the delectable dishes that are both distinctive and well-known in An Giang. Jaggery is produced by grinding soft jaggery, which has a fatty flavor and aroma. The final product is then simmered for approximately 3–5 hours. This dish can be eaten with ice, added to coconut milk, or used as a topping for milk tea, milk coffee, fresh milk, etc. Although the product is simple, anyone who has eaten it once will not be able to forget it.

Tran Gia's products prioritize both quality and distinctiveness. The distinctive component of the products is extracted from the water of jaggery in accordance with rigorous protocols, thereby preserving the natural essence and guaranteeing the nutritional needs of consumers. At present, the products are exported to numerous countries worldwide.

Bird's nest with jaggery nectar

Ms. Ly Hua Thi Lan Phuong, the proprietor of the Chan Phuong Bird's Nest brand, has integrated practical experience, scientific and technological research, and innovation into the farming, exploitation, and processing processes over the course of more than a decade of employment in the bird's nest farming industry. She was innovative in her approach to leveraging the value of jaggery and bird's nests when she made the decision to invest in An Giang.

The Chan Phuong brand has investigated and developed a bird's nest product that is distilled with jaggery nectar, in recognition of the fact that the economic value of jaggery is currently low, many households that cultivate jaggery are compelled to resign from their jobs, and there may not be as many specialties from jaggery in the future.

Chan Phuong is the owner and direct operator of a chain of jaggery orchards and bird's nest farms, which are under his direct control from the procurement of raw materials to the production, processing, and distribution of the product. Throughout the implementation process, the brand has consistently enhanced and invested in cutting-edge science and technology, collaborating with research centers and the An Giang Department of Science and Technology. Therefore, a bird's nest with jaggery nectar is the perfect combination of fresh, highly nutritious ingredients and modern production processes, ensuring the most quality, quintessential, and unique products.

Not only does the Chan Phuong brand's product line of bird's nest distilled with jaggery nectar increase the value of jaggery and introduce a new product to An Giang, but it also contributes to the creation of additional jobs and the improvement of the income of local residents.

Jaggery is a tree that is well-known in the rural areas of Bay Nui, An Giang province. It is not only associated with the image of an idyllic village, but it also offers a variety of rich specialties that leave visitors in awe. The recent emergence of numerous innovative jaggery products has facilitated the dissemination and validation of the significance of this unique tree, thereby fostering the growth of trade and tourism in An Giang.
