(AG Provincial E-Portal) - The Ro Pagoda Bull Racing Festival, which is located in An Cu Commune, Tinh Bien Town, is scheduled to take place on September 8, 2024, according to the organizing committee.
It is anticipated that approximately 24 pairs of oxen from the towns of Tinh Bien and Tri Ton will participate. The racetrack is located in Ro Pagoda, Vinh Thuong hamlet, An Cu commune, Tinh Bien town, An Giang province.
Additionally, the organizing committee conducted a rice planting festival in the afternoon of the same day. The Monks of Ro Pagoda will participate in the planting of rice seedlings at the racetrack area, which will foster a sense of national unity and joy during the festival. Additionally, this will provide photographers from around the world with the opportunity to capture unique cultural and sporting events.
During the annual Sen Dolta Festival of the Khmer people, bull racing is one of the activities that are deeply rooted in the Khmer ethnic cultural identity of An Giang. After Chol Chhnam Thmay and before Ok Om Bok, the Sen Dolta Festival is one of the three major festivals of the Khmer people in the year. It is characterized by filial piety, which involves the remembrance of the birth and upbringing of grandparents and parents, as well as the prayer for deceased relatives.
