(AG Provincial E-Portal) - The Southern Folk Cake Festival - An Giang in 2024, which is being organized in conjunction with the OCOP Tourism - Trade - Product Promotion Fair, will be held in the Golden City area of Long Xuyen city from August 3 to 11, 2024, by the Trade and Investment Promotion Center of An Giang province in collaboration with the People's Committee of Long Xuyen city, Xuan Chinh Co., Ltd., and relevant departments and branches.

The event featured over 400 booths from more than 20 provinces and cities across the country, showcasing a variety of products, including OCOP products, general trade, and tourism promotion. The Southern Folk Cake Festival - An Giang attracted more than 140,000 visitors and shoppers during its nine-day operation, generating an estimated revenue of over 34 billion VND, according to preliminary statistics.

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will present an introduction program and a demonstration of the processing of ocean tuna weighing nearly 60kg to An Giang diners, in addition to daily trading activities, within the event's framework. Simultaneously, the Institute for Research and Development and Conservation of Southeast Asian Culture and Arts collaborated with artisans to conduct cooking demonstrations and distribute 6,000 banh xeo, 2,000 portions of banh khot, 2,000 portions of banh duc, and 1,000 portions of jelly. Thousands of visitors are drawn to the main stage each evening to witness art performances.

On August 5, the Institute for Research and Development and Conservation of Southeast Asian Culture and Arts collaborated with the An Giang Provincial Trade and Investment Promotion Center to conduct a competition featuring 100 jaggery-based folk cakes. The Vietnam Records Organization established the record, thereby contributing to the recognition of the specialty tree species of the Bay Nui region.

Security and order are maintained by nearly 120 police officers, civil defense soldiers, security forces, and bodyguards in order to ensure the Southern Folk Cake Festival - An Giang is conducted with thoughtfulness. The booth was staffed by more than 350 day laborers. Every day, nearly 50 sanitation workers dispose of three tons of waste. Additionally, there are more than twenty printing, advertising, service, and transportation facilities that cater to events.

The security and order situation was stable during the 9-day event, as per the preliminary assessment of the Organizing Committee. The amount of waste was substantial, but it was proactively collected and processed promptly. Additionally, the booths were generally clean. Sellers adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, publicly list prices, and generate favorable media coverage and event diffusion. Additionally, they are tastefully decorated.

The aforementioned outcomes were attained as a result of the scientific, rhythmic, and enthusiastic coordination of the Organizing Committee members, culinary artists, OCCP subjects, localities in the province, neighboring provinces, and media units, as well as sponsors.   Consequently, the event has created an environment in which individuals can partake in food, entertainment, and other activities. Additionally, it plays a role in the promotion of the cultural values, specialties, and tourism of An Giang province and the south in general.
